Introducing Made of Words

A little over 10 months ago I met with an accountant.

“I want to start my own business… Do you have any advice?”

Within 20 minutes I had a list of practical steps. Open a bank account. Set up a limited company. Register for GST.

Oh… and make sure you have a website.

A website, I thought. Easy peasy. I can do that. Writing copy for websites is what I do for a living! It’ll take me no time at all to create my own.

Fast forward 10 months – hundreds of deadlines and thousands of cups of tea later – and here I am, finally launching a website. Better late than never!

It’s been a good 10 months. Since walking out of the accountant’s office – and subsequently, my full-time job – I’ve been quietly growing this little thing I call Made of Words. One client led to another, then another, then another, and my poor website kept getting moved to the bottom of the to-do list.

Next week, I thought. Next week became next month, next month became next year… you know the drill. Now, just ahead of Made of Word’s first birthday, we finally have a website.

I’ll be enjoying a glass of wine or two with dinner tonight!

For me, the most exciting part about launching the website is this – the blog. This is where I’ll be sharing things like copywriting tips and tricks, recommended reads, and a behind-the-scenes glimpse into freelance life.

I’d love for you to join me. Follow Made of Words on Facebook or Instagram to stay up-to-date with our latest happenings. I promise it won’t be 10 months until the next post.
