Asking for help

This blog is Day 25 of my 30 days of motherhood blogging challenge. Every day, for 30 days, I’m sharing diary-style snippets of my life as a working mum to one cheeky toddler. Consider this part creative experiment, part self-therapy. Feel free to play along at home! You can read days one to 24 here.

Today was an incredible day. I feel more energised than I have in a long time. And I think it’s all because I asked for help.

I spoke to a career coach about some roadblocks I’m experiencing in the business and also with a family wellbeing & nutrition expert about Zoey’s chronic constipation (sorry, TMI!).

Maybe the title of this article should be ‘paying for help’, haha. Reaching out to these experts was not easy on the wallet, but their advice was so valuable. I feel like I have a solid plan for moving forward with both the business and poor Zoey’s digestion – two very different issues but both were weighing heavily on my mind.

I wish I’d asked for help sooner. I’ve spent so much time trying to solve both issues myself without much luck. It’s amazing what speaking to an external expert can do – they give you straight-talking advice that family members might be scared to say, plus they know so much more about each issue because they live and breathe it every day!

Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to share more about what I learned in a future blog post.

Not a lot else to report from today. Zoey was up at 5 am (with a sore tummy), I worked, and she came home exhausted from daycare so went to bed early. I’m hoping that doesn’t mean she’ll wake up at 4 am! Fingers crossed.

Until tomorrow,
Jess x
