How the magic happens.
I’m often asked, ‘how can you write about my business from the outside?’
I always answer: by getting to know you and your business really, really well.
Any good copywriter will tell you 80% of the magic happens during the briefing process.
That’s why I won’t write a word before taking you through my brief, workshop-style.
We’ll chat for up to an hour, covering everything from your brand personality to your mission, vision and values.
As I listen to you talk about your business, I’ll be drafting copy in my mind.
By the time I start writing, I’ll be overflowing with inspiration.
When you read my first draft, you’ll be blown away by how much it sounds like you.
That part, I find harder to explain – I guess I have a knack for getting into people’s minds. It’s not as creepy as it sounds!
I’m highly intuitive, but I can’t intuit things unless I speak to you (ideally face-to-face or via Zoom).
So, in short, the magic happens when we get out from behind our screens and have a good chat. Funny, that!
My writing process
Here’s a simplified version of the process I follow with all new clients.
STEP 1: LET'S TALK
Let's touch base for a free 30-minute Discovery Call to discuss your project and see if I’m the right writer for the job.
STEP 2: PROPOSAL
After our initial phone call, I’ll send you a proposal outlining my suggested approach, and my standard terms & conditions.
STEP 3: BRIEFING
If you accept my proposal, I’ll email you my copywriting brief to clarify important things like your target audience, tone-of-voice, and brand personality. We’ll go through the brief together (workshop-style) via Zoom or in person.
STEP 4: FIRST DRAFT
With the paperwork out of way, it’s time for me to start writing. I’ll work my creative magic and send you a polished first draft for review.
STEP 5: REVISIONS
All project quotations include at least one round of minor revisions (tweaks to style, tone, and structure - not complete rewrites).
STEP 6: FINAL COPY
This is the fun part. I’ll send you the final copy so you can share it with the world. I may also use this opportunity to ask you for a testimonial of my work.
